Quiet Time

What is it, about quiet time, that makes it so daunting? Why is it, so hard to sit down and just spent time with God? We use every excuse in the book to not do it. Yet, we all know the importance of it.

There comes a time when we realize. That we are in a drought with our quiet time. We say to ourselves that we will do it later. But it never happens. Some say I'm not a morning person. Or I go to bed to early and don't want to be tired for tomorrow. There's a lot things, you can say.

But one thing remains the same. The importance of doing it. You realize, how much you need it. The only way to grow in Christ is to take time and spend time with him. It's like with friends, spouses, or potential mates. You spend time with these individuals and you get to know them.

However, God should be #1 on the list. God knows all about you. He loves everyone. But we all need a little bit, of God time.

One of the problems people run into is when and where. It doesn't matter. In the car, or on the couch. God is very flexible. He just wants your undivided attention.

I urge, everyone, if they are missing this aspect in their walk. To make sure it gets put back in.

Even Jesus needed time with his Father.

King Of Glory

This song by Third Day was stuck in my head. Its a beautiful song about our King of Glory. Read the lyrics they are very powerful and moving. Reflect on the message of the song.

Who is this King of Glory that persues me with his loveAnd haunts me with each hearing of His softly spoken wordsMy conscience, a reminder of forgiveness that I needWho is this King of Glory who offers it to me

Who is this King of angels, O blessed Prince of PeaceRevealing things of Heaven and all its mysteriesMy spirits ever longing for His grace in which to standWho's this King of glory, Son of God and son of man

His name is Jesus, precious JesusThe Lord Almighty, the King of my heartThe King of glory
Who is this King of Glory with strength and majestyAnd wisdom beyond measure, the graceous King of kingsthe Lord of Earth and Heaven, the Creator of all thingsWho is this King of Glory, He's everything to me

The Lord of Earth and Heaven, the Creator of all thingsHe is the King of glory, He's everything to me

Kobe Bryant: Doin' Work

Kobe Bryant: you either hate him or love him. The talented 6'6 shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers always has a lot of attention on him.
Starting with the fact he is the star for the Lakers. Second being, he's Kobe Bryant. Third he's like a celebrity. Kobe has bodyguards, a personal chef, and some nice cars and a house. Cameras are drawn to Kobe.
Kobe claimed his fourth title last night. Which puts him in some rare company. Kobe led the Lakers to the his fourth title. Yet, this Kobe is different from the Kobe with Shaq. Kobe has grown up, he proved his doubters wrong.

They can say he raped a woman, or he's not a team player, or he's just a bad role model in general. But all this is not true. The charges were dropped. The reason being the woman wouldn't testify in court. There was a time when Kobe was not a team player. And he learned why, its imperative to include teammates.

Kobe has been thrown a lot and handled it quite well. Kobe will always have the haters out there. And they will find whatever they can to bring him down. But the guy, stays the course. We have been able to see the maturation of Kobe.

We have been able to see Kobe's triumphs and failures. He's human people! He messed up with that girl in Eagle,Colorado. Everyone messes up. Does it, justify what he did? No. But Kobe knows what he did was wrong. It humbled him and made him a better player and person.

Kobe is the best player in basketball, right now. Lebron James is good, no doubt. But what separates James from Bryant is we know Kobe's down to earth. Lebron has separated himself from everyone with with the "The Chosen One", or "The King". He sounds like he is some godly figure, which I don't like. Lebron won MVP, but hasn't won anything else. Skip Bayless of First Take calls Lebron "Prince James". If you compare Kobe to Lebron right now. It's no contest, its Kobe.

Kobe has the rings and swagger. Sure Kobe is older and will fade like everyone else. But he knows that and he will do has much as he can now. Kobe won his fourth title and won't be his last. Kobe is hated by many and admired by many. Kobe feeds off of the idea of being the best. It drives him to play at another level. For once, lets respect him as a man and a player. He's a loving parent, and believe it or not, a model citizen. Quit sipping the haterade and ask yourself, how will I explain Kobe to my kids. Yeah, that's right, he's that big. Your kids will want, to know who Kobe was. The good and the bad. But The story is still be written and maybe, it might be enough time, to change some opinions.

It's Kobe Doin' Work.

Jesus Freaks

There are thousands of missionaries all over the world. Spreading the Good News of Jesus. Reaching those in the poorest, most corrupt places in the world. Danger is certain, yet their love for God, keeps them going.

They all leave behind the luxuries of home, loves one and money. They have been called to be a tool, disciple, and messenger for the Lord. In efforts, to extend His Kingdom and to glorify him.

I have been reading Jesus Freaks once again (5th time). Jesus Freaks is about martyrs who have lost their lives for Christ. The stories are amazing, humbling, and ultimately bring tears to your eyes. The book has countless stories of brave men, women, and even children. Those brave souls standed for God, even in the midst of death.

I urge and challenge everyone to pray for all the missionaries out there. Serving our Lord all over the world. Find a way to be part of this amazing process. Pray or support them, whatever you can do, will help. Pray that we all stay committed to our Lord. No matter the cost.

" You never know how much you really believe anything until its truth or falsehood becomes a matter of life and death to you." - C.S. Lewis

So, What Does The Bible Say?

I find myself guilty of this sometimes. That you get so caught in what you think. And never look at what the Bible says. There are so many issues that we all take sides on. We even change sides basis off literature, one's opinion, or something that happen to us.

As a christian I know and believe the Bible to be truth. Yet, I sometimes avoid looking in the Bible. To see what the Bible says. Sometimes I'm lazy, or I think I'm right. Those are all excuses, God has given us the Bible. But we must read it and study it. We must go beyond what we hear on Sunday.

Th Word is food for our hungry body. It's on us, to learn beyond what our pastor says. Sure you can learn from other people. But we shouldn't be reliant on somebody else. We need to take the initiative.

So, what does the Bible say?
