Attitude

It's amazing, what we can accomplish with a positive attitude. I know I'm guilty of having a bad attitude at times. From experience I know a negative attitude doesn't produce positive results.

Our attitude can have a huge effect in the present and the future. So lets have a attitude that is contagious. To those who are stuck in despair. Let our attitude reflect Christ. Imagine what could be done! Imagine the impact. So, let's not imagine the lofty possibilities. Lets put it into action. This quote sums it up. Enjoy!

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift, or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our attitudes.” Charles Swindoll

Yes, We Can

"Jose! You voted for that stupid terrorist Muslim" I smirk and say yes I did. The 13 year old teenager then replies, " I thought you were a christian" I smirk again and say, I'm a christian.

The past 2 months in a half. I have been scoffed at, been the target of criticize, my faith has been questioned by others. I've been looked at as a heathen, by some. Many have shook their heads in disgust. In my decision to vote for Barack Hussein Obama. But this blog is not, an attempt to justify my reasoning behind voting for Obama.

It's about this.......................

It's disheartening to think that fellow Christians, question my faith base off a vote. I've had people look at me, in shock and say "Why did you do that" "Your a fool!" All the judgments, second guessing, and disagreements have piled up. I've grown tired of being judged in my decision.

So I've learned over the past couple of weeks, to keep my mouth shut. Especially, since I live in Texas. It's not like I bring the conversations up on purpose to get people fuming. I don't even own a Obama shirt. I don't go running around yelling "Obama is the Saviour of the world"

I tell people just, because I voted for Obama. Does not mean, I will agree with everything he does, or says. The last few days, I've been encouraging people to pray for the 44th president of the United States. Regardless, of who you voted for, or didn't vote.

Obama has a lot on his hands in the next fours years. This is not my rally cry for Obama. If McCain had be elected I still be writing this blog. Encouraging people to pray for him. Heck! if your next door neighborhood was elected I would do the same.

The point is this, whether you like it, or not. Obama is our President for the next four years. So let loose the political party stuff and embrace the challenges ahead. Be supportive of your President, pray for him on a daily basis. Don't pray to just pray. Pray, because you want to pray for Obama. Not only pray for Obama, pray for his cabinet and officials. Pray for the Senate, the House of Representatives, all of Washington.

We are in this together. God didn't punish the United States with the election of Obama. Remember God works all things to good. Sure their will be hard times. Obama may only last four years in office. But instead of being discontent with the results. Pray and have faith.

Remember that has Christians we are not defined by our political affiliations. We are defined by our Lord and Saviour. I casted my vote, already. My vote goes to Jesus the only vote that matters in the end. Politics won't last forever, but Our Lord does! God can move mountians. Hope doesn't rest in Obama, it rests with in Our Lord!

So enjoy, the historic event. Pray that God gives you understanding, if your still bitter, or confused. 1 Timothy 2:1-5

Yes, We Can pray for our President

Yes, We Can pray for our Nation

Yes, We Can because we are command to by our President forever.

MLK Day

Its probably cliche that I blog about Martin Luther King Jr on MLK Day. But the man's impact is so immense that I couldn't help it. MLK was a man with a plan. A plan that many opposed and resisted. But many believe in the dream that seemed impossible

The MLK was jailed and persecuted for his "radical views". Instead of fighting back, he would simply assemble a group of people and start a march. He still got hit, spit at, and jailed. But his hope never wavered. I have deep admiration for the man.

Something tells me, he knew that he would die. For the cause he passionatley believed in. As many know he did, many mourned his death. He died doing what he loved. What he belived in. It seem, he knew it was coming, but kept at it.

So I thought, why we can't be like that for Jesus. Stand in the trenches and still praise him. That if God, came to you today and told you, you will die in my name. Would you rejoice? Would you be bitter? About all you would miss. A life of a Christan has many trails, not to mention the suffering. Being a Christian is not easy.

All Christians will suffer, its not a cake walk, its quite the opposite.

So I pray that we will follow our Father to the ends of the earth
That our hearts will yearn for Him
That we praise Him no matter our status
Even if its death, that we may rejoice

So think about the fire MLK had.
Translate that to the ultimate cause
The cause of your Father

Glory In Your Weakness

We all have some sort of weakness. Last night as I watched a man, a dear friend of mine. Take his weakness head on. My mind started to process things. You see I know I have weaknesses and that God made me that way. But as I was reminded last night. I need to pull Jesus in.

My weaknesses vary, but one that has be hoovering like no other, is school. I like to learn, I like to read, but school does not come easy to me. I have to work really hard to get above average grades. To be honest, I've got a lot of ground to make up when it comes to school. I know having a degree is very important.

When I graduated from high school, I felt that God was calling me to Colombia. So my plan was to live and minister in Colombia. I wanted to leave in August when school started. But God had a different plan. I thought I would be blessed by going to Colombia and serving others. Once again God pulled a 180 on me. As August slowly crept up, I started to feel no peace about the whole thing. So I prayed, sought after Godly counsel, and prayed some more.

God made it very clear, JOSE YOUR GOING TO SCHOOL. I was thinking, but God I suck at school. I hate school with a burning passion. So August came and I was enrolled, I'm still in school and I struggle time to time. Last semester was tough and methodical for me. But I know God has me in school for a reason. That I am facing one of my greatest weakness on a daily basis. It even comes at me, on the weekends in a form of, books, papers, etc.

I roughly have 2 years left of school. So this journey will continue and I will fight the good fight. Do my best ,and honor God in my school work, my studying. I will pull Jesus in with me.

I will glorify Him in my weakness. It will be hard, painful, and at times unbearable for me.
But Jesus never throws anything we can't handle.

Which means I will walk out of school with a degree.

Glory To GOD

We All Have A Story

A 15 year old boy is called by the pastor of the church. He asked " Do you mind giving your testimony?" The boy stares in shock, What do you want me to do? "Give your story brother" That was me 6 years ago ( man I'm old) in a church in Honduras. The pastor of the church asked, me to give my testimony. I gave my testimony to the whole congregation that night.

I still remember that night so clearly. It was a stepping stone to many more times of testifying. Now I could witness to a wall. But it was the process of 6 years that got me, here. I still have a lot of learning to do. But as my church enters the ONE campaign, I realize that every time I give my testimony. I never know what part of the story God is going to use. I use to be embarrassed, by my story. I never got drunk, or gotten high off my mind, or participate in extra- curricular activities with the opposite sex. I thought I needed a over the top story. I found my story to simple to tell. Boring if you will.

I have told my story countless times. When I give it, I try to be honest. To cut out all the bull. But most importantly I make sure my story is about his glory. That's how all our stories are, its a living testimony of how great God is. The things we have conquered with Christ, addictions, fears, and everything else. I get goosebumps of all that has transpired in 6 years. I am no longer a shame of my story.

God has given me my story for a reason. My story has touched people. I have been touched by people's story. I love to hear testimonies, its a great reminder of the brilliance of the God we serve. What's even more exciting, is our stories are still being written.

We all have stories so, proclaim it to the nations.
Let JESUS be known to the world!

You have a story of monumental impact!
Don't waste it.

Prayer Circle

Last night, as we were feeding the homeless. A man came up to me and asked, if he would like to pray. Not for him, but just in general. So he suggested we gathered in a circle. He then ask, is it ok if we stand when we pray? Do we have to pray a certain way? We all smiled and gave different ways of praying. We said you can pray in the car, work, anywhere pretty much. God is always open for communication with his children, regardless of out current state. God will always listen! The man smiled and said well then, let's pray in a circle! So as we prayed in a circle. We all went around and prayed, for each other.

It was a good reminder that, we all need prayer. That prayer has no rules about where you should do it. God knows our hearts. As the man was about to leave. He asked, if we could have a prayer circle next week. We all smiled and said of course.

Hopefully, we have a bigger circle.

Super Bowl Pick

Hope everyone had a great New Years! The NFL playoffs are among us, so I thought I pick my super bowl winner.
NFC Round 1

Eagles vs Vikings- The Vikes got Adrian all day Peterson, and pretty good D. The Eagles are on a roll. The Eagles D is better and will stop AP. Tavaris Jackson is a good back-up QB. So the Eagles will win in a close game.

Atlanta vs Cardinals- Arizona has home field, but the Falcons are good. Matt Ryan is a stud in the making and Micheal Turner is a legit back. The Cards have old -timer Kurt Warner playing good and duo of talented wide outs. Atlanta's rushing attack will overwhelm the Cards.

AFC Round 1

Colts vs Chargers- San Diego has found its mojo, but three time MVP Peyton Manning will have something to say. The game will be close, but like always the game will rest on the foot of Adam Vinateri, imagine that. And Adam never misses.

Ravens vs Dolphins- The Dolphins will be a good football team in the future. The Ravens smash mouth D will disrupt the offense of Miami. The Ravens will win in a low scoring affair.

NFC Round 2

Eagles vs Giants- Philly will the give the Giants a game. But Eli and Co. have a well stocked arsenal on both sides of the ball.

Atlanta vs Panthers- Hotlanta will cool down. The Panthers balance attack will be too much for the Falcons.

AFC Round 2

Colts vs Steelers- this one was hard to pick. The Steelers D should give them the edge, not to mention home field, which means its going to be cold!!!!!!!

Ravens vs Titans- again another hard pick. Kerry Collins is a seasoned vet, Joe Flacco is a rookie, that will be the difference.

NFC Championship

Panthers vs Giants- This will be a battle of two very balanced teams. But in the end the Panthers will win in a cliff hanger.

AFC Championship

Steelers vs Titans- This will be a low scoring game, with a lot of hits. The Steelers will produce enough points to win in this backyard brawl.

Super Bowl

Panther vs Steelers- This will be one heck of a game. They both have good solid D. Panthers get the edge on the offensive side. Big Ben is one hit away from falling apart. Jake Delhomme is a underrated QB and will shine on the big stage. Remember the Panthers have been to the Super Bowl before, and almost knocked off the Patriots. The Steelers will scratch and claw, but will fall short to the best team in 2008-2009

Your Super Bowl Winners Carolina Panthers!!!!
