Quotes

I have about 5 quotes on my wall. The quotes are used for inspiration, for reminders, or simply to encourage someone else. But what is it about quotes? Why are we so magnetized by quotes? Quotes seem to have this power. That can push someone to be better. Or bring tears of frustration down their face. Quotes have this amazing draw.

Quotes stand the test of time. Quotes are simply there to be read and felt. So why do we use quotes? Are quotes, words complied together. To form some kind of message, wisdom, or truth. I know, personally, I love to grab a quote book and read away. Overall, quotes do have a great impact. Quotes take on so many emotions. The words seem to resonate.

Here are some of my favorite quotes.

"Everything that matters in our intellectual and moral life begins with an individual confronting his own mind and conscience in a room by himself. - Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr.

“When nothing seems to help, I go look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it, but all that had gone before.”- Jacob Riis

"When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That's relativity." - Albert Einstein

"People seldom do what they believe in. They do what is convenient, then repent." - Bob Dylan

"To love is to be vulnerable." - C.S. Lewis

"To be a christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." - C.S. Lewis

"A man may lose the good thing of this life against his will; if he loses the eternal blessings, he does so with his own consent."- St. Augustine

"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."- Mark Twain

It's said Bob Dylan found Christ years back. I don't know but I like the quote. "People seldom do what they believe in. They do what is convenient, then repent." - Bob Dylan

Why is that? I wonder if Bob was talking of believers or the drug culture he was originally a part of? I think true believers of "The Way" are all in and have more work to do for Christ and less repenting.

I think Jose is an example that might confuse Bob. Jose walks the walk and knows "The Way".
